The claim that cryotherapy is contraindicated for sporting injuries is refuted by recent systematic reviews and clinical studies showing that cold therapy effectively aids post-exercise recovery, reduces muscle soreness, and manages inflammation.
The claim asserts that cryotherapy is contraindicated for sports injuries. However, recent scientific literature directly contradicts this assertion. Paper [7] discusses cold acclimation therapy as a valuable therapeutic approach for sports recovery and inflammation control. Furthermore, Paper [8], a comprehensive systematic review and network meta-analysis of 51 randomized controlled trials, demonstrates that cryotherapy modalities (such as cold water immersion, local cold therapy, and whole-body cryotherapy) effectively attenuate delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS), suppress inflammatory biomarkers, and improve athletic performance recovery. Therefore, the evidence clearly refutes the claim.
