Is it true that Butterflies taste with their feet?

Yes. Multiple sources, including a National Geographic article and a 1938 newspaper report, state that butterflies have taste receptors on their feet (tarsi) and use them to assess landing surfaces. A scientific review lists the tarsi among documented lepidopteran taste organs.
