Hormone replacement therapy lowers blood sugar in postmenopausal women.

the verdict
CONTESTED PARTIAL
Recorded sources

Counts group repeated records of the same source within each side. They do not measure evidence strength or source independence.

Is it true that hormone replacement therapy lowers blood sugar in postmenopausal women?

Partly. One small 12-month trial in 40 postmenopausal women with type 2 diabetes found HRT significantly lowered fasting plasma glucose and HOMA-IR, while a separate 12-week trial of HRT plus folic acid found fasting glucose did not change significantly. Both are small, short, and cover only subgroups, so the evidence covers the claim only in part and points in both directions.
