Is it true that Tongue-tie causes speech delay in children?
Partly. Evidence on whether tongue-tie causes speech delay is mixed and generally weak. A systematic review of 16 mostly small studies found no clear connection between ankyloglossia and speech disorders, and a small study found no speech differences between children with and without tongue-tie, while a meta-analysis and several small uncontrolled studies report speech improvement after tongue-tie release.
