Is it true that sharks deliberately attack boats?
Partly. A 1923 newspaper report describes sharks attacking small boats off New South Wales, but attributes it to hunger rather than deliberate targeting. Against that, a Wikipedia summary of ISAF data records only 4 boat bites among 108 incidents in 2022, and an education study notes sharks' aggressive man-eater reputation does not fit their biology.
