Washing fruits and vegetables with water removes much of the pesticide residue on their surface.

Is it true that washing fruits and vegetables with water removes much of the pesticide residue on their surface?

Partly. Several studies report that washing produce with water reduces surface pesticide residues, with one measuring roughly 50% removal and another 8-52%, while a Qatar study found no significant difference between washed and unwashed samples. The evidence covers partial reduction rather than a uniform 'much of the residue' outcome.
