Is it true that Lionel Messi has won the Ballon d'Or more than five times?

Yes. Multiple reference sources state that Lionel Messi has won the Ballon d'Or eight times (some older sources say seven), which is more than five. A 2016 news article and other snippets confirm at least a fifth and sixth win.
