Peer-reviewed literature in theoretical physics demonstrates that the Planck length can be formulated as a Lorentz invariant scale or a frame-independent four-dimensional pseudo-length within specific covariant quantum gravity models.

Planck's uncertainty principle and the saturation of Lorentz boosts by Planckian black holes
2013 · cited by 22
A basic inconsistency arises when the Theory of Special Relativity meets with quantum phenomena at the Planck scale. Specifically, the Planck length is Lorentz invariant and should not be affected by a Lorentz boost. We argue that Planckian relativity must necessarily involve the effect of black hole formation. Recent proposals for resolving the noted inconsistency seem unsatisfactory in that they ignore the crucial role of gravity in the saturation of Lorentz boosts. Furthermore, an invariant length at he Planck scale amounts to a universal quantum of resolution in the fabric of spacetime. We argue, therefore, that the universal Planck length requires an extension of the Uncertainty Principle as well. Thus, the noted inconsistency lies at the core of Quantum Gravity. In this essay we reflect on a possible resolution of these outstanding problems.

We show that the standard Lorentz transformations admit an invariant mass (length) scale, such as the Planck scale. In other words, the frame independence of such a scale is built-in within those transformations, and one does not need to invoke the principle of relativity for their invariance. This automatically ensures the frame-independence of the spectrum of geometrical operators in quantum gravity. Furthermore, we show that the above predicts a small but measurable difference between the inertial and gravitational mass of any object, regardless of its size or whether it is elementary or composite.

Owing to the existence of an invariant length at the Planck scale, Einstein’s special relativity breaks down at that scale. A possible solution to this problem is arguably to replace the Poincaré-invariant Einstein special relativity with a de Sitter-invariant special relativity. In addition to reconciling Lorentz symmetry with the existence of an invariant length, such replacement produces concomitant changes in all relativistic theories, including general relativity, which becomes what we have called de Sitter modified general relativity. In this paper, the Newtonian limit of this theory is used to study the circular velocity of stars around the galactic center. It is shown that the de Sitter modified Newtonian force—which includes corrections coming from the underlying local kinematics—could possibly explain the rotation curves of galaxies without the necessity to suppose the existence of a dark matter halo.

The meaning of the quantum minimum effective length that should distinguish the quantum nature of a gravitational field is investigated in the context of manifestly covariant quantum gravity theory (CQG-theory). In such a framework, the possible occurrence of a non-vanishing minimum length requires one to identify it necessarily with a 4-scalar proper length s.It is shown that the latter must be treated in a statistical way and associated with a lower bound in the error measurement of distance, namely to be identified with a standard deviation. In this reference, the existence of a minimum length is proven based on a canonical form of Heisenberg inequality that is peculiar to CQG-theory in predicting massive quantum gravitons with finite path-length trajectories. As a notable outcome, it is found that, apart from a numerical factor of O1, the invariant minimum length is realized by the Planck length, which, therefore, arises as a constitutive element of quantum gravity phenomenology. This theoretical result permits one to establish the intrinsic minimum-length character of CQG-theory, which emerges consistently with manifest covariance as one of its foundational properties and is rooted both on the mathematical structure of canonical Hamiltonian quantization, as well as on the logic underlying the Heisenberg uncertainty principle.

We extend the Quantum Memory Matrix (QMM) framework, originally developed to reconcile quantum mechanics and general relativity by treating space-time as a dynamic information reservoir, to incorporate the full suite of Standard Model gauge interactions. In this discretized, Planck-scale formulation, each space-time cell possesses a finite-dimensional Hilbert space that acts as a local memory, or <i>quantum imprint</i>, for matter and gauge field configurations. We focus on embedding non-Abelian SU(3)c (quantum chromodynamics) and SU(2)L × U(1)Y (electroweak interactions) into QMM by constructing gauge-invariant imprint operators for quarks, gluons, electroweak bosons, and the Higgs mechanism. This unified approach naturally enforces unitarity by allowing black hole horizons, or any high-curvature region, to store and later retrieve quantum information about color and electroweak charges, thereby preserving subtle non-thermal correlations in evaporation processes. Moreover, the discretized nature of QMM imposes a Planck-scale cutoff, potentially taming UV divergences and modifying running couplings at trans-Planckian energies. We outline major challenges, such as the precise formulation of non-Abelian imprint operators and the integration of QMM with loop quantum gravity, as well as possible observational strategies-ranging from rare decay channels to primordial black hole evaporation spectra-that could provide indirect probes of this discrete, memory-based view of quantum gravity and the Standard Model.
