Peer-reviewed literature establishes that the Higgs mechanism explains mass acquisition for fermions and gauge bosons through spontaneous symmetry breaking.
In this paper, we review the status of the computations of the perturbative quantum corrections to the Higgs boson mass in the Standard Model and in its supersymmetric extensions. In particular, supersymmetric theories require a very accurate computation of the Higgs boson mass, which includes corrections even up to the three-loop level, since their predictions are limited by theoretical uncertainties. A discussion about these uncertainties in the context of the Minimal and Next To Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model is included.
the Higgs boson, a potential key to an understanding of why elementary particles have mass and indeed to the existence of diversity and life in the universe
Physics is a branch of science in which the primary objects of study are matter and energy. These topics were discussed across many cultures in ancient times by philosophers, but they had no means to distinguish causes of natural phenomena from superstitions.
The Scientific Revolution of the 17th century, especially the discovery of the law of gravity, began a process of knowledge accumulation and

On July 4, 2012, physicists working at CERN's Large Hadron Collider announced that they had discovered a new subatomic particle greatly resembling the Higgs boson, a potential key to an understanding of why elementary particles have mass and indeed to the existence of diversity and life in the universe. For now, some physicists are calling it a "Higgslike" particle. Joe Incandela, of the University of California, Santa Barbara, said, "It's something that may, in the end, be one of the biggest observations of any new phenomena in our field in the last 30 or 40 years, going way back to the discovery of quarks, for example." Michael Turner, a cosmologist at the University of Chicago and the chairman of the physics center board, said:
We present a pedagogical and critical exposition of the Higgs mechanism within the Stan- dard Model, including its formal structure, explanatory achievements, and unresolved conceptual challenges. The mechanism elegantly explains mass acquisition for gauge bosons and fermions via spontaneous symmetry breaking, but leaves key questions open: the origin of Yukawa cou- plings, the negligible role in hadronic mass, and the cosmological constant problem arising from its vacuum energy. As a complementary perspective, we introduce Chronon Field Theory (CFT), a topological field model in which both inertial and gravitational mass arise from solitonic ex- citations of a causal temporal vector field. We do not claim that CFT supplants the Standard Model, but propose it as a promising theoretical approach to unresolved foundational problems. Our aim is to motivate further investigation into whether such a temporally grounded ontology can advance the understanding of mass, gravity, and field unification.
I consider the electro-weak (EW) masses and interactions generated by photons using vacuum expectation values of Stueckelberg and Higgs fields. I provide a prescription to relate their parametric values to a cosmological range derived from the fundamental Heisenberg uncertainty principle and the Einstein–de Sitter cosmological constant and horizon. This yields qualitative connections between microscopic ranges acquired by W± or Z0 gauge Bosons and the cosmological scale and minimal mass acquired by g-photons. I apply this procedure to an established Stueckelberg–Higgs mechanism, while I consider a similar procedure for a pair of Higgs fields that may spontaneously break all U(1) × SU(2) gauge invariances. My estimates of photon masses and their additional parity-breaking interactions with leptons and neutrinos may be detectable in suitable accelerator experiments. Their effects may also be observable astronomically through massive g-photon condensates that may contribute to dark matter and dark energy.
The derivations presented in this paper suggest an intimate relationship between geometry and the electroweak sector at the Planck scale. A Lorentz-invariant maximally symmetric stochastically perturbed spacetime transformed to spherical coordinates reveals an emergent Schwarzschild metric, entirely a statistical structure of stochastic spacetime. Similarly, the transition from a maximally symmetric universe with a complex SU(2) scalar doublet ϕ, comprising four independent real scalar fields with a zero vacuum expectation value (VEV), to spherical coordinates at the Planck scale reveals the spontaneously broken electroweak (EW) sector. Working in the unitarity gauge, the resulting EW potential can be simultaneously mapped in space at the Planck scale and across the EW sector. In space, the resulting EW potential includes a deep well within the Schwarzschild sphere and a shallow well just outside corresponding to an accretion disk. The same potential mapped in the EW space provides an entire family of possible sombrero hat potentials with fourth-order coupling specific to a point in space. At the minimum points of the potential in space, inside the Schwarzschild sphere and at the accretion disk, the λ corresponding to the Standard Model (SM) fourth-order coupling is instead derived as λ5. The factor of 15 is a simple consequence of the conservation of the EW VEV and the fact that the SM formulation of the EW potential does not account for situations where the perturbations in ϕ dominate. A more general formulation of the EW potential restores the SM quartic coupling and preserves λ in space. An emergent Higgs field inside the Schwarzschild black hole is found to directly relate to the stochastic spacetime fields normalized by the Schwarzschild radius. The corresponding Higgs vacuum has both a ground and excited state and the possibility of both positive and negative vacuum entropy. Finally, the scalar-field VEV degeneracy in EW space of the metastable Higgs vacuum appears instead differentiated in space with possible probability, tunneling, and entropy implications.
The mass acquiring mechanism of meson or gluon is discussed in this article. Higgs-meson interaction and Higgs-gluon interaction are the key mechanism. Finally, we can get the mass origin of neutron or proton. The detail deduction is provided in the manuscript. We can get same mass of charged pions, neutral pion, charged gluons, and neutral gluons. This article solves the mass gap problem of Yang-Mills theory.
