She earned her Ph.D. in Psycholinguistics at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and bachelor's degree in linguistics and psychology from Harvard University. She is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Psychonomic Society.
She has authored numerous works including academic journal articles and a textbook on the development of language. Her psycholinguistic research has focused on sentence processing in English as well as a variety of other languages, including Arabic, Spanish, German, Japanese, Chinese, and Finnish. Shelia M. Kennison is Professor of Psychology at Oklahoma State University.
