We construct a two sector general equilibrium model in which one sector produces a homogeneous good and the other sector produces a vertically differentiated good. We demonstrate that uniform (across sectors) and (Hicks) neutral technological change can cause an increase in the skill premium.

Technischer Fortschritt stellt die wichtigste Treibkraft der Entwicklung dar und betrifft alle Sektoren durch Sektor-übergreifende Effekte, Änderungen relativen Preise und Einkommensverteilungen. Die Literatur über technologischen Wandel berücksichtigt multi-sektorale Abhängigkeiten nur unzureichend und die vorliegende Dissertation versucht diese Lücke mit einer theoretischen und empirischen Analyse von Innovationen in multi-sektoralen Wirtschaften zu schließen. Die Arbeit entwickelt dazu ein multi-sektorales Modell einer Cobb-Douglas Ökonomie mit konstanten Skalenerträgen und betrachtet Produkt-, Prozess-, organisatorische und soziale Innovationen.Die Hauptergebnisse sind: (i) Die Lohn-Profit-Verteilung jeder Cobb-Douglas Wirtschaft wird durch eine einfache Hyperbel beschrieben und hängt negativ von den Elastizitäten der Kapitalinputs ab. (ii) Hicks-neutraler technischer Wandel in multi-sektoralen Modellen ist möglich, jedoch unwahrscheinlich. Harrod- und Solow-neutraler Fortschritt können theoretisch überhaupt ausgeschlossen werden. (iii) Die Auswirkungen von sektoralen Innovationen können auf Grund intersektoraler Dependenzen ex ante weder als kapital-, noch als arbeitssparend klassifiziert werden.
