Banyaknya aktivitas yang dilakukan di Laboratorium Teknik informatika UMMU menggunakan komputer pasti tidak akan terlepas dari kegiatan-kegiatan yang menggunakan jaringan internet, jaringan internet yang stabil merupakan sarana yang memungkinkan dapat mempermudah untuk mencari suatu informasi dan berbagai data-data penting. Kinerja dari Pi-Hole ialah dapat mempermudah kinerja dari internet itu sendiri, misalnya kinerja dari Pi-hole dapat memblokir iklan dan juga situs website contohnya seperti youtube,instagarm,dan situs website lainnya. Yang berhasil di blokir ialah youtube dan juga ummu.ac.id. cara penginstaalan Pi-Hole menggunakan software VirtualBox dan juga PuTTY dan dijalankan pada Browser.

NetworkGuard is a modular edge-based virtual network sensing framework designed for residential smart home security. The system interprets network telemetry-such as DNS queries, firewall events, VPN latency, and connection establishment delay-as structured sensing signals for gateway-level monitoring. Implemented on a Raspberry Pi 4 and managed via an Android interface, NetworkGuard integrates DNS filtering (Pi-hole), firewall enforcement (UFW), encrypted VPN tunneling (WireGuard), and an AI-assisted advisory layer for contextual log interpretation. During a six-week residential deployment, DNS blocking efficiency improved from 81.2% to 97.0% following blocklist refinement, while VPN connection establishment time decreased from approximately 3012 ms to 2410 ms after configuration tuning. ICMP-based measurements indicated a stable tunnel latency under moderate traffic conditions. Controlled validation scenarios-including DNS manipulation attempts, port scanning, and VPN interruption testing-confirmed consistent firewall enforcement and tunnel containment. The results demonstrate that layered security principles can be adapted into a lightweight, reproducible edge architecture suitable for small-scale residential IoT environments without a reliance on enterprise infrastructure.

Abstract-This project presents the design and implementation of a network-wide ad-blocking system using Pihole on a Raspberry Pi. As online advertisements become increasingly invasive, users seek efficient solutions to block ads across devices without needing to configure each individually. Traditional ad-blocking methods rely on browser extensions, which are often limited to specific devices or browsers. Pi-hole, a DNS-based adblocking solution, provides an affordable, network-wide approach, making it ideal for home or small office environments. The project leverages the Raspberry Pi’s low cost, compact size, and energy efficiency to host Pihole as a dedicated DNS server that filters and blocks ad domains before they reach user devices. This abstract outlines the complete setup process, including hardware requirements (such as a power supply, microSD card, and network connection) and the software configuration necessary to run Pi-hole on a Linux-based operating system like Raspberry Pi OS. Configuration steps cover setting up Pi-hole to function as the primary DNS server, fine-tuning blocklists, and implementing features like remote access and user- friendly dashboards. To enhance performance and reliability, several optimization strategies are explored, including adjusting DNSquery caching, managing blocklists for specific ad types, and setting up automated updates.
