According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the number one cause of death globally. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2022, nearly 8 in 10 individuals who suffered from a stroke showed a history of hypertension, and over 60 % of those with Diabetes have hypertension with high triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein (LDL, bad cholesterol). Both high LDL and Diabetes double the threat of CVD incidence, with the probability of all the previous risk factors being higher in adults who are overweight and obese. The n-6/n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) ratio is critical to developing metabolic disorders that increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. The elaboration of the mechanisms by which n-6 and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids operate and convert to the essential fatty acids in the body will allow us to clearly understand the significance of the optimum ratio of the two. According to research, the human body can maintain optimum health with an intake ratio of n-6/n-3 of 5:1; however, the current ratio of n-6/n-3 PUFA intake is 20:1 in the Western diet. Background: Nowadays, there are many people with hypertension who are not aware of it. Hypertension can be caused by various factors, based on secondary hypertension or primary hypertension. High cholesterol levels are one of the causes of increased blood pressure. Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) is a type of cholesterol that is not good for the body if it exceeds normal limits. Objectives: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of complementary Wet Cupping nursing on changes in Low-Density Lipoprotein cholesterol levels in people with hypertension. Methods: The research method used was experimental research with a pre-experimental design, namely one group pretest and posttest design. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling techniques, based on the specified inclusion criteria, totaling 16 respondents. Respondents received intervention in the form of complementary wet cupping nursing three times and this was done once a week. The instruments of this research are standard operational procedures and observation sheets for Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) measurement results . Result s : The results of this study state that there is a less significant effect on Low-Density Lipoprotein in people with hypertension after being given complementary wet cupping treatment with a significant value of 0.717 or p-value> 0.05. Although the results of statistical tests did not show significant results, there were 56.25% of respondents who experienced a decrease in Low-Density

Métodos: Foi realizado um estudo de natureza indireta e quantitativa. O presente estudo fez uma investigação de artigos e patentes. Para levantamentos dos dados de publicações, foi utilizada a base Scopus, Scielo, Espacenet e INPI (Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Intelectual) para a busca de patentes e Artigos, utilizando as palavras-chave Linseed e Cholesterol. Resultados: Através dos resultados pode-se perceber que os Estados Unidos e o Brasil estão à frente das pesquisas e publicações a respeito do assunto. Background: Cocoa and dark chocolate contain polyphenols and several other positive components, and diets containing balanced amounts of these substances have beneficial effects on human health. In this review article provided a comprehensive and fruitful explanations about cocoa and chocolate as a world popular food, their positive and constructive properties in the physiological processes of the body, especially diabetes. Materials and Methods: In this study has been used the method of library collection, search in various texts and valid scientific articles. Results: Overall, balanced consumption of appropriate doses of cocoa and chocolate, especially dark chocolate, in addition to slowing the progression of diabetes and its preventive effects, contains many other positive effects, include increasing the potential to prevent cardiovascular disease and increasing the efficiency and capacity of the heart and kidneys, increasing endorphins and delivering it to the brain and increasing the body's sense of pleasure and energy, improving digestion. As a result, they help improve gastrointestinal function, increase good cholesterol (HDL) and decrease bad cholesterol (LDL), and have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. Abstract Background Prolonged sitting is associated with increased risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Occupational sitting accounts for up to 50 h/week for employees. This pilot study assessed the acceptability of stair climbing as an interruption to sitting throughout working hours, and provided preliminary data of the effects on glucose and lipid profiles. Methods A quasi-experimental design was conducted involving 16 sedentary office workers (five females and 11 males) for intervention (n = 8) and control groups (n = 8) with mean age of 36.38 (5.58). For the eight-week intervention, a continuous four-floor stair climb and descent was performed eight times/day spread evenly over the working day. A prompt to climb was presented on the participant’s computer eight times/day. Participants in the experimental group recorded daily floors climbed and steps (measured using pedometers) in a weekly log sheet. Blood samples were collected pre and post intervention to test effects on fasting glucose and 2 h plasma glucose, triglycerides, and total (TC), LDL and HDL cholesterol. Experimental participants were interviewed at the end of the study. The Wilcoxon signed rank test was used to compare the median changes (pre-post) of the dependent variables. Abstract Background We reported a relatively high rate of MetS in rural Northeast residents in 2012–2013. Many strategies like health knowledge propagation and lifestyle modification have been taken to help rural residents decrease metabolic disorders. Hence, we held the present follow-up study in order to figure the changes of metabolic parameters and the possible reasons together with the evaluation of MetS incidence and associated risk factors. Methods A population-based sample of 8147 rural Northeast Chinese residents aged ≥ 35 years at baseline were followed up from 2012–2013 to 2015–2017. MetS was diagnosed following the unify criteria in 2009 using the Asian specific criteria. Results Among residents with MetS at baseline, value of systolic, diastolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, HDL-C decreased while waist circumference increased in both genders in follow-up. Discrepancy of trend in body mass index, LDL-C and estimated GFR existed between male and female. Besides, triglyceride increased, and fast glucose decreased in female only. The alterations of dietary pattern might be accountable for those changes. Among residents without MetS at baseline, the cumulative incidence of newly diagnosed MetS was 24.0% (25.8% for male; 22.3% for female). Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is still the main cause of death in Europe. Elevated plasma cholesterol, specifically low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), is the main causative risk factor for CVD, most prominently associated with coronary heart disease. A widespread disinformation about cholesterol and CVD is one factor underlying a poor compliance to lipid-lowering therapy. To investigate how cholesterol, CVD and cholesterol reduction is perceived in the population, a survey was commissioned by the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS). Nearly half of people above 25 years of age are most worried about cancer (45%), compared to just over one in four who are worried about heart disease (27%). A majority believe being overweight (72%), blood pressure (70%) and smoking (67%) most affect heart health, far more than note cholesterol (59%) and family history (39%). The majority of adults recognize that high LDL (or "bad") cholesterol should be a health priority for everyone, including those younger than 40 and those who are not overweight. However, 1 in 4 (25%) incorrectly believe that it does not need to be a concern until someone shows signs or symptoms. Although 89% of adults surveyed agreed it is important for people to know whether or not they have high LDL-C, an overwhelming 92% did not know their LDL-C levels or had never had their cholesterol levels tested. The prevalence of cardiovascular diseases, while lower than it once was, remains a significant health consideration.To review the evolving evidence with respect to what role various factors play in the aetiology of coronary heart disease (CHD).While total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were previously believed to play central roles, it has now become clear that neither in isolation is highly significant. For example, some people with very high LDL-C levels do not develop CHD, while others with very low LDL-C levels do. Furthermore, there is a difference between dietary cholesterol and serum cholesterol. Dietary cholesterol, which is found in animal-based foods, raises blood cholesterol in only approximately one-third of people. Conversely, intake of saturated fatty acids and trans fatty acids can result in dyslipidaemia. Furthermore, obesity--particularly abdominal obesity--and metabolic syndrome both are strong independent risk factors for development of cardiovascular disease.Statin therapy and a diet comprising a portfolio of plant sterols and viscous fibres can both significantly reduce LDL-C levels and C-reactive protein. CADTH recommends that Leqvio not be reimbursed by public drug plans as an adjunct to lifestyle changes, including diet, to further reduce low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels in adults who are on a maximally tolerated dose (MTD) of a statin, with or without other LDL-C–lowering therapies, and who have nonfamilial hypercholesterolemia (nFH) with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Evidence from 2 clinical trials showed that treatment with Leqvio lowered bad cholesterol (LDL-C) in adults with nFH with ASCVD who were already being treated with the highest possible dose of statins and in those who cannot tolerate treatment with statins. A post hoc pooled analysis of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) from the ORION-10 and ORION-11 trials precluded the Canadian Drug Expert Committee (CDEC) from determining whether inclisiran reduces the risk of cardiovascular morbidity and death in adults with nFH with ASCVD. Patients identified a need for treatments that are less burdensome, can reduce bad cholesterol (LDL-C) and cardiovascular morbidity and death, and improve health-related quality of life (HRQoL); however, there was not enough evidence to show that Leqvio would reduce cardiovascular morbidity and death or improve HRQoL.

The importance of cholesterol and its essentiality is examined. Cholesterol is transported within the human organism by lipoproteins (Chylomicrons, VLDL, LDL and HDL). The LDL considered “bad cholesterol” transport cholesterol from the liver to the other tissues for their needs; however the HDL, “good cholesterol” transport back cholesterol to the liver to be recycled. Therefore, cholesterol is rather good for its various functions in the organism. It is a major component in cell membranes, and it is used for the synthesis of steroid hormones vitamin D and bile. Its deficiency may lead to cellular damage, and a reduction in the synthesis of hormones such as testosterone and also vitamin D. Hypercholesterolemia should be considered an indicator of a health problem within the cells, that the organism is trying to fix by mobilizing cholesterol.
