Purpose: The aim of this article is to provide a detailed analysis of the health benefits of blood donation, with particular emphasis on its effects on cardiovascular function, iron regulation, lipid metabolism, blood pressure and the prevention of lifestyle diseases, including myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease and cancer. In addition, the detoxifying effects of blood donation are presented, including the elimination of toxins from the body, such as perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Materials and methods. To obtain accurate and comprehensive information on the health aspects of blood donation, a review of the available scientific literature was conducted. The search included databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar. The material analysed included scientific articles, clinical research reports, systematic reviews and reports on the role of blood donation in therapy and life-saving, with a particular focus on its benefits, procedures and impact on donor health. The article is based on a review of the available scientific studies and literature, including experimental and epidemiological findings, that indicate the positive effects of regular blood donation. Literature sources include studies on blood donation as well as a wide range of literature on cardiovascular, metabolic, oncological diseases and body detoxification. Lipoprotein metabolism refers to the process of transporting fats and proteins in the human body, and this process is of great importance for cardiovascular health. Regular blood donors may differ in their blood profiles from the general population, so studying their lipoprotein metabolism will help to better understand issues related to cardiovascular health and disease. This study will examine the lipoprotein metabolism of blood donors and its impact on health, aiming to determine the changes in lipid profiles among donors and their relationship to heart health. According to some data, regular blood donation is associated with a decrease in lipid profiles. Lipid profile assessment is an accepted method of assessing a person's risk for coronary heart disease, especially if there is evidence of lipid peroxidation. Regular blood donation can reduce iron stores, which in turn reduces lipid peroxidation. This study was conducted to determine the effect of blood donation on lipid profiles.
Ubiquitous environmental exposures increase cardiovascular disease risk via diverse mechanisms. This review examines personal strategies to minimize this risk. With regard to fine particulate air pollution exposure, evidence exists to recommend the use of portable air cleaners and avoidance of outdoor activity during periods of poor air quality. Other evidence may support physical activity, dietary modification, omega-3 fatty acid supplementation, and indoor and in-vehicle air conditioning as viable strategies to minimize adverse health effects. There is currently insufficient data to recommend specific personal approaches to reduce the adverse cardiovascular effects of noise pollution. Public health advisories for periods of extreme heat or cold should be observed, with limited evidence supporting a warm ambient home temperature and physical activity as strategies to limit the cardiovascular harms of temperature extremes. Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substance exposure can be reduced by avoiding contact with perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substance–containing materials; blood or plasma donation and cholestyramine may reduce total body stores of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances.
